ZOMBIFIED, Art Shows, Internship, Life. The Stuff of G.Terado.

Hey guys! How's Everyone doing? I just wanted to do a quick recap on everything that's happening and will be happening.

ZOMBIFIED

I'm about 5 entries away from finishing Series 3. I am currently working Zombie #25 which features my friends' band, Science. If you haven't seen #24 yet on ZOMBIFIED, here it is...

From Let to Right: Andrew, Ryan, Ned, Steve, and Matt
I know I'm a little backed up on work because there are 2 Survivors that were supposed to be out, but I just haven't had the time to them. But I will have them done once Zombie #25 and 26 are done. I've been thinking about this for quite some time, but when Series 3 is completed, I will put ZOMBIFIED on a temporary hiatus to catch up on the Survivor Series. Maybe even do some as commission work if someone wants one. If you don't know about the Survivors Series, please check out the Survivors album on Facebook. I will be involving crossovers with ZOMBIFIED within the Survivors Series, which I think will be neat. But also, while ZOMBIFIED is on hiatus, I want to start my zombie animation, which I've been mentioning to everyone.

Art Shows

As I've mentioned on Facebook, I have 2 art shows coming up. I have one at the end of this month, the 30th, at the Clash Bar in Clifton, NJ and another on April 5th at Dingo's Den which is also in Clifton. Here are the flyers for the events. So if you're interested and you wanna know all the details, just check out the event on Facebook, I've posted the links on there and will post them up again. But here are the 2 flyers..

Internship

So I have a great opportunity for experiencing in the art industry. I will be interning at EK Success Brands. If you don't know who they are, look them up, we sell their products at work, Michaels Arts and Crafts. I believe I will be working on some designs and a little bit of animation being that they do not have an animator for their brand. So I'm pretty excited and nervous because their designers are heavy on Adobe Illustrator, which I do not use at all unless I'm editing my business cards. But this will be all a learning experience and that's always good to have. I will be starting next week, 15 hrs/week, with flexible hours so I can still work at Michaels which is awesome because that means, extra money that will help a lot with all my bills.

Life

I've been settling quite nicely with my girlfriend in our new apartment, we also got a new cat, Sanchez.

He's so adorable and complete opposite of Sylar. Lol They started on a rough patch, but things are getting a little smoother. That's pretty much it, really. I've just been working and working, and been doing art shows, which has been really fun meeting new people and artists, selling prints here and there, and just simply exposing my work and myself as an artist.

That's pretty much it for the recap. Don't forget to check the ZOMBIFIED page for the upcoming art show events and other updates! I will catch you ALL later!

A New Apartment, A New Foundation

Hey guys! It's been awhile, but I have been a bit busy recently. I just moved into a new apartment with my lady, here in Bloomfield NJ. It's been interesting adjusting to this new setting. I recently displayed art work at this event called SketchCon, which was AMAZING. There were so many different types of great artists with their work, I was pretty much geeking out while I was walking around checking out their stuff. If you go to my ZOMBIFIED page, you can check out the SketchCon album and see all the neat work that were displayed at the event. It was really exciting being there, I actually made a couple of sales and gave out a bunch of business cards. So I'm hoping more clients will come my way eventually. Also, last Thursday, I had a job interview which I think went well and hopefully I hear from them some time soon, I even sent them a follow up email thanking them for interviewing me and I will probably send them another one later.

So.. Zombified.. I've been thinking about doing commission work for Survivors as well as Zombified. In the beginning, I was sort of doing them as a token of my appreciation for reaching certain goals concerning the number of ZombiFans that I gain on Facebook. So we'll see what happens because I do want to start connecting everybody and showing their "subtle" involvement with each other both the undead and the living. And once I'm finished with Series 3, I will focus more on the animation. I believe adjusting to my new home, it will help me focus on what I love to do. With that said, I'm gonna get my stuff together and get them gears going and I will catch you all later! ^__^

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to swing by the page for any additional updates or news!

Things to Come

This song is about the Zombie Apocalypse. So pay attention, this song could save your life.

As per usual, life has continued to remain a bit crazy. At least for me it's crazy. It's been tough to really pursue all the plans I've made and now that February is a couple of weeks away, I'm gonna be moving AGAIN for the third time. Lol But this time will be different, I will be moving out with my girlfriend. This is a huge step for us and I can't wait til the day comes. And the great news is that we did find a place and we did get accepted, but I think we're still checking out a couple of places first. If we do decide to stick with this apartment, I will remain in Bloomfield. But now, I really really need to get myself a steady income whether it's another part-time or a new full-time job.

Also, in February, I have the two art shows coming up, which I'm pretty stoked about. I will be back in Boonton at The Canvas Clash on February 1st and then on the 10th, I will be in Lyndhurst at the Whiskey Cafe. I can't wait to show off the rest of the Zombies including the new ones, which you can check out on my Zombified page if you haven't already. Originally, I wanted to be able to present the new Zombie animation, which was going to showcase my Zombies from Zombified and also feature an epic song by my friends' band, Science. Definitely check them out if you haven't heard their stuff yet. But now, with the remaining time I have, I dunno if I'll be able to have the animation done. Considering all of the work that it involves, it's definitely going to take a long time because I like to go the whole nine yards from character bibles, storyboards, animatics, the whole thang. So yeah, I'm thinking if anything I'll have some promo pics and maybe a short teaser for either Feb. 1st or the 10th. We'll see, I still have some clients to take care of, which involves two bands.

I've even mentioned doing some character work for Blazer Show, which has grown to be a great challenge for me since I've strayed from it working on Zombified. The characters have grown so much and the story is really pulling together now and I haven't been around for it. It's tough when your partners are in a complete different state. And to be completely honest, I've been more dedicated to Zombified, not just because of my love for Zombies, but because it's what's making me some money. I may not be making bank from it, but some money is definitely better than no money. I feel when the time is right, I will be able to reunite with my partners and truly get back on track and brought up to speed with Blazer Show. And I feel that time will be when I have my true foundation built and involves being settled in a new home and having a real income. So when that happens, everything will fall into place.

That's the update for now, you can swing by my Zombified page for any further updates on the project and for any upcoming art shows. So until then...

2013

Happy belated New Year Everyone! Man, has it been a long time, which I'm really sorry for. Thankfully, there are things that I've been busy with. So it's not entirely because of laziness. Lol

So where to begin?... Well, I now occupy my own car, which happens to be my girlfriend's old car. Lol And now, I don't feel so stuck at home. I've been trying to be as social as possible whenever I'm not lounging around or working on Zombified. I've also had two great opportunities to display my Zombified work, both times at The Canvas Clash in Boonton. And my next two art shows will be on February 1st at The Canvas Clash and February 10th at the Whiskey Cafe in Lyndhurst. The last two shows were really fun, meeting new people and chatting with other local talented artists. I've been so lucky and grateful that my Zombie work has been catching as much attention as it has been. My Facebook page seems to be doing fairly well with 150 Likes of whom I like to call my "ZombiFans". Lol Corny, I know, but some people like that.... I think.

As usual, there's a bunch of things I've been wanting and needing to do. I need to get back into the grind with Blazer Show and whip up some more concepts and tweek out the design concepts of the characters a little more. I need to start the pre production for my Zombie animation and hopefully come up with at least a short teaser of it at least by the 1st or 10th of February. I kinda wanna be the only one to display animation at these certain events. And after speaking with my friend, who is the singer of Science, I really wanna make that happen being the fact that I will be using a portion of their song for the animation. It will be epic. Also, I really really really wanna start doing other personal animation projects to make a new demo reel which I will be using another one of Science's songs for. And when I show off my animation work I will also be showcasing Science and letting their awesome music be heard. So that's gonna be really fun. I'm thinking about printing some stickers to give out also at the art shows and doing other stuff to give myself more exposure. My girlfriend and I have looked into trademarking again and we were told of a site that could help me with it for a good price, I just need to save up to pay for it and maybe ask for a small loan. Ugh. But yeah, if I get this done, then everything will be covered and protected and that's what's important.

Now, that I have all these things I want to do, which is typical, I really need to find and make time to manage everything and that's the hard part.. which is typical, as well. I've only really been focusing so much on Zombified simply because it's what's helping me make some money and it is what I love doing, especially now so it's been pretty hard not to get lost in this route I've been going on. Hopefully, very soon, I will be able to maintain my other projects all at once. When there's a will there's a way, right? Right.

Now, the holidays, I hope Everyone enjoyed their holidays these past couple of months. Although, I had to work on Thanksgiving, it still turned out nice and Christmas was pretty sweet, too. Got my new fold up crossbow, which is siiiiick.

And I've learned a new and easy way to string my crossbows aaaaaanndd I also ordered twin Kukri machetes which I'm expecting to arrive any day this week or next week. So watch out, Zombies. And need I say NYE was pretty awesome, even though I had work at 3am that night. Still partied, still went to work, but punched out early. Lol It was a good night...

Also, awhile ago, I completed a new Zombie, in case some of you haven't seen it on Facebook yet...

Dan Dedeian
And there's plenty of more where that came from. They're just WIPs. Lol So that's pretty much a quick recap of the past couple of months and now that it's a new year, I'm trying to maintain a fresh positive attitude towards my work and my life. Whenever you have the free time, swing by my Zombified page for any updates on the projects and/or on the art show events. And PLEASE share my page, I would love for my ZombiFan base to grow! ^__^

Until next time, guys.. See ya laterzzz!!

Shit Is Going Down.. In The Toilet.... Cuz' I'm Pooping Right Now.

Wow.. So it's been a little over a month since my previous blog. Back then, that was my second day living at my sisters, which at the time was difficult to adjust to, but now I'm pretty much used to my new temporary lifestyle here.

Lets see, where to begin... Well, not too long after that last post, I received a voice mail while I was at work and the funny thing was that when my phone was ringing and I didn't recognize the number, I easily pressed the F-U button because I assumed it was one of my loans trying to reach me. Whenever I receive a call from an unknown number, I ALWAYS assume it's the loan sharks. I'm sure those who owe student loans do the same thing. But fortunately, it was actually a job recruiter whom I've sent my resume to way back in May. So I spoke with her and set up an interview with her (who happened to be VERY pretty) and it went very well. She wanted to learn more about me and my background and also what my focuses are in my field of work. And when I had left, I was already feeling good just from that interview and suddenly, 10 minutes after I had left the office, I get a call from my recruiter saying how she had found a freelance job for me and we immediately scheduled a job interview. So that was great. Finally, the day of the interview came and needless to say I was nervous as shit. Overall, the interview went well although there were two minor mistakes that were discovered by the interviewer.. The first mistake was one of my characters had a misspelled word in it "Deficiency" but instead I had it as "Deficeincy" and the second mistake was within my resume. But in my opinion, I felt it was just a simple mistake, the word that I meant to use was "palette" as in "color palette", but instead I chose "pallet" from the Spell Check when I had spelled the word wrong in the first place. So I thought it was an easy mistake to overlook, of course, I should have looked it over a couple of times and even resend it to my recruiter but I can't remember what my mind set was at during that time, I was probably just really nervous and excited then. But when the interviewer had pointed out those two mistakes, I repeatedly apologized and he was saying it was alright and that he's usually a stickler when it comes to spelling errors so I didn't really think it would effect my chances. But then, when my recruiter called me and told me why it didn't work out, it was because of that. And I was really disappointed because he kept pointing out things that he liked with my work so, that was that.

And ever since, I've just been job searching online on like four different job sites, which three of them email me job alerts practically every day, which is why Zombified fell back into hiatus. But many of you have seen, Zombified is back up and running again with its own Facebook page! And I am currently working on Series 3 again, which I'm really stoked about. It is VERY IMPORTANT that I receive as many clients and sell as many Zombies as much as possible because I really REALLY need to start saving up for rent for my own place. I only have until February, which is when my parents are coming back to visit and I am currently occupying their room.. And time is definitely running out. All I've really been doing with my paychecks is paying back my loans and using the rest to get by until next payday. The good thing is, I finally getting back to being current with my loans so then I'll be back to paying once a month again. But like I was saying before, it's really important that I gather as many clients as possible, which is why I'm really counting on you guys to spread the word about Zombified, spread that shit like.. like a Zombie outbreak. And you guys have been doing really well too, I just need you guys to keep up the good work!

But yeah, my new Facebook page, Zombified By Gerald Terado, has all the information on how you can be added to my client list, contains all my contact info, my rates, and how payment transactions are done. All you have to do is go to the "About" section and it's all outlined there for ya. For any other questions, just reach me by either phone, FB, or email at anytime and I mean ANYTIME.

What else...

Oh, so now I'm 26 years old, many of you know, yesterday was my birthday and I had such a wonderful birthday weekend thanks to my girlfriend. She got me some awesome gifts. If you haven't seen them, she got me a nice warm fuzzy blanket and three T-shirts and ... All Zombie related. Lol

So that was awesome. And the night before that, my friends' band, SCIENCE, was performing at some little art studio/gallery venue in Boonton, which they kicked ass. It was my first time seeing them perform live and it was just awesome, great energy and they definitely had the crowd going. I've said it before on Facebook, but DEFINITELY CHECK THEM OUT IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY. They're so good and I got a rad T-shirt from them also.

It was kinda funny being there, though, because it's been a few years since I've been in that scene, and I had forgotten what it was like being surrounded by a bunch of young emo kids. But I'm that I went because I got to see my friends play along with some other great bands and I met with one of the people that sorta runs that venue and I'm trying to get my Zombified work displayed there. They're going to start a "First Friday" type of event every month and I'm definitely trying to get on that, which I'm probably going to hit up their email later tonight.

So that's pretty much it, honestly. It's only been about month since my last post but it feels so much longer than that. I thought I'd have more updates for ya but then again, all I've been really doing is working, resting, job searching, and seeing my girlfriend on weekends, which I'm beginning to cope with again because it's keeping things fresh. So yeah, that's about it.

DON'T HESITATE TO LIKE OR VISIT ZOMBIFIED BY "YOURS TRULY" ON FACEBOOK and DON'T BE SHY TO SAY HI!! Catch you all later! PEACE!!..... ::fart::

Day 2 In Another New Temporary Home

Hey Guys, how goes it? Me? Okay so far. For those who may not know, I recently moved out of my apartment in Newark and into my sister and bro-in-law's place in Belleville this past Saturday. Fortunately for Nicole, she is now working but has to commute from her mom's because it's closer to her there than here, so there goes my ride. So now because I no longer have a ride and don't want to fully depend on my friend at work, I am now sharing my sister's car and while I'm living here with them, I am also trying to save up to officially move out and to catch up on my loans. The one thing that really worries me is being able to save enough money while paying loans and my phone bill before my parents come back from the motherland to visit in February. So any time that I may seem depressed, it's most likely because of that and also the new living situation.

Don't get me wrong, I deeply appreciate what my family has done and is doing for me, but moving from my brother's apartment to my sister's has been a drastic change to the lifestyle. I mean, sadly the things that do get me down are sorta just little things but I dunno, in a way I need those little things to keep me together. Ever since, I moved out of Haskell, I've only been able to see my friends once a week, most of the time not even that, and I feel because I'm here it's gonna be even less than that because of certain activities. For most of my life, I've always had "gatherings" in my room, that was usually the chill spot but now I don't have that, this room I'm in is pretty damn small. And I dunno, it would just feel weird to occupy the living room, I guess because it's not my home really. But not having Nicole or my friends around, I feel like I almost have nothing. And again, I appreciate what my sister and her husband are doing for me and their hospitality but it's just kinda hard to adjust. So far I'm always home alone because they work all day and I have no car to go anywhere even for just a cruise. So I dunno, it just seems a lot to take in and adjust for me, it probably sounds really dumb to you, but whatevs.

Pretty much when it all comes down to it, I just gotta do what I gotta do, make some hard sacrifices and suck it up, I guess.

On a side note, I've decided to take ZOMBIFIED off hiatus being that Halloween is near so that's sort of my way of being festive and I am currently working on some stuff for Blazer Show so keep an eye out for those two things. Until then, I will catch you all on the flip side. See ya.

A Case of the AWESOMEDAYS

Hey Everyone! How's Everybody doin? Before I start, I just wanna welcome Everyone it's OFFICIALLY October! Fall is here and Halloween is near! A lot of things happening this month.

So let me start by re-announcing that ZOMBIFIED Series 2 is finally COMPLETED along with a new banner.

Check out my FB page if you haven't seen the rest of the Zombies, they're all there. If you don't have a FB, I have an online portfolio at Behance Network.

UPDATES

*Due to some upcoming plans ZOMBIFIED will be on hiatus but I will still be taking in new requests for Series 3

TRADEMARKING

So I've read the basics about trademarking and copyrighting, except I'm not savvy in that way so I'm definitely going to re-read them. But the idea is to trademark ZOMBIFIED as a brand name or small business. If anyone has any idea how to approach this in a simple, cheap, but safe way, please do tell.

FACEBOOK/WEBSITE

In one of my previous blogs I mentioned how I plan on making a separate FB account for ZOMBIFIED except I wanted to do it after the trademark is made. I guess for now, the more I learn about it, then I'll be able to decide when to make a ZOMBIFIED FB. Also, a friend of mine, Jess "Rambo" Ramsey, has made an awesome website for ZOMBIFIED which contains awesome features and even made it mobile! So I'm looking to purchase web space or maybe even ask my sister to help out.

PRICES/PAYMENTS

I've also mentioned how I will be charging my work differently. From now on, I will be charging $10/hr on an 8hr/day basis whether it's for a print or digital copy. I, also, wanna make it clear that I do put a lot of hours in each picture and that sometimes it actually does take a little longer than 8 hours but to keep it simple, my goal is to have each one done in 8. So since the prices are going up, I will not request the money upfront although the finish product won't be handed over or uploaded until payment is made. Of course, you are always free to contact me through here or FB for more details and if you would like to have my # just message me and I'd be happy to provide it.

ON OTHER NEWS

I will be moving again shortly with my sister and brother-in-law. Basically, because I'm struggling with rent and loans. So by doing this, this should allow me to catch up on loans and save up to move out with my girlfriend. This week she's starting her full-time job which will require me to bum a ride from my sis or co-worker because our work hours collide. That'll be fun.

And now that ZOMBIFIED is on hiatus, I will be dedicating my time for Blazer Show. So keep an eye out for that. I'm really disappointed that til this day I still haven't taken any opportunities to work on other animation projects. Hopefully this hiatus will change that. I'm also going to continue working on an illustration for my friend's band, Alice Practice, and for another friend's band, Science, which is perfect because Halloween is approaching, but definitely check out those two bands because they're pretty awesome.

I'm a little brain dead now so I'm hoping that's all the updates that I had in mind... I guess until something comes up, I'll see you all later! PEACE!!
